From the Forge: Precious Mettle

Precious Mettle
Price (Item Level): 25,000 gp (12th)
Body Slot: Ring
Caster Level: 9th
Aura: Moderate; (DC 19) abjuration
Activation: -
Weight: -

Forged of cold iron, this unimpressive ring offers unique protection against certain types of magic.  It is a counterpart to the Ring of Evasion.

This ring continually grants the wearer the ability to avoid damage as if she had Mettle. Whenever she makes a Fortitude or Will saving throw to determine whether she is subject to half or part of the effect, a successful save results in no effect.

Prerequisites: Forge Ring, endure elements.

Feat Suite: Second Sight

Second Sight
Requirements: Listen 5 ranks, Spellcraft 2 ranks, Con 13, Base Attack Bonus +3, Blind-Fight, Hear the Unseen, Mage Slayer, Pierce Magical Concealment
Suggested Platform: Barbarian 4/Fighter 2 (1 Feat +1 for Human and/or per Flaw still available)
Additional Suggestion: Oil of Darkness

This is a little expensive in terms of Requirements, but in many ways is needed for combat against spellcasters, and even so is only a foundation, rather than a complete solution.  Still, this can be useful throughout an adventuring career, and has the added advantage of being useful offensively against non-spellcasters.

I'd say this would be particularly niche-based, as it would be easier at higher levels to acquire equipment that would get around invisible or concealed opponents, or have a spellcasting ally to counter such effects.  But at lower levels, this could make an interesting NPC to face a party.

Random Treasures: Online Handbooks (which I usually disagree with)

There are a lot of resources available online, and some specialty articles written by people with a lot of experience with the game.  These cover specific Classes or Races, specific Styles of play, or even specific character builds.

Its rare I come across one that I completely agree with.  It isn't even rare that I completely disagree.  Don't get me wrong, as I know that there are limitations to my understanding of the game, and not every rule will hold true to each group except for...well, the Rules.

And that's where these Handbooks dwell.  Only the Rules are the absolute, taking into account the most popular and obscure sources of official material.

I'm compiling a List of these Handbooks, for people to peruse at their leisure.  I suspect this post will have new material edited in on a regular basis, as I come across new ones.
